This work was undertaken for the Department of Water Affairs via DFID funding. Its objective was to develop practical tools to give effect to water allocation reform in South Africa in line with the requirements of the National Water Act.
In this context, WAI was the project leader for a large multi-disciplinary team. Key deliverables included:
Establishment of an Expert Advisory Panel
Develop options for interim individual licensing
Develop a Toolkit for Water Allocation Planning
Investigate options to help build capacity to use water productively
As project leader, WAI were responsible for control of costs and deliverables within target dates, as well as overall coordination of the team.
